I spell it "Southwestern," because that's the college Tuba Boy got into. That means he at least gets to go somewhere! He even got an academic scholarship award, though it will need supplementing with a needs based award, for sure! Hope he gets some of that, too. We are pleased that he got into a good quality school, and since this is the closest one to where we live, I like it a lot! (The school is in Georgetown Texas.)
I feel like I can relax a bit and wait patiently for the other results to come in, knowing he has a spot.
I am proud of him, too, for getting some academic recognition.
Now we just wait and see what's next. What's next for Beccano is driver's ed, since his "Driver's Ed in a Box" arrived in the mail. Both them boys are going to get some schooling, yep. And both are costly, LOL.
There's still no word on my job future, so I'm hoping something comes up soon!
That's it for me, just a small happy note!
I'm a technical writer, so this is my place to write something that's not technical. Sure, a lot of this is just for me, but I am happy so share all the ups and downs of an actual grownup who's trying to get both smart and wise. It's definitely a journey.

Licensed Driver
What a milestone. This beaming young person is a licensed driver now. Next, I must phone the insurance company. Then I need to teach him how to drive a manual transmission car, because it looks like Lee is not going to let him take off in the truck any time soon. Then, I have to scrape together some cash and get him a car. It will really be helpful for him to have a vehicle, with all the band practices, debate events and, sigh, dates he will be doing this year.
I just deleted a ton of useless info on my less-than-stellar finances. I keep hoping something helpful will come through. But I can't imagine what that would be. Thinking positive!
But, all in all, I am proud of my boy, even with the "Awesome Beard" that you can barely see in the photo. I'd do anything for him, including emptying the savings account, I guess!

Suna Goes Texan
Yee Haw, y'all! (It's OK for me to say y'all because I AM from the south.) It's me, driving a pick-up truck, and though you can't really see it, I assure you I am wearing a cute red cowboy hat. Beccano is enjoying the spaciousness of the back seat.
In the background is the police-person neighbor's "new" vehicle, which I believe is his old police vehicle, painted white. He is working on it all the time. Not sure what he is doing with it. They now have twice as many vehicles as people there. But I am not upset with him--he watched the stupid non-crippled dogs after they broke out again on Sunday (Rosee--you got some 'splainin' to do...)
Yep, back to the topic at hand, Lee bought the truck. It is shiny and silver, matching his motorcycle (which, if you are keeping track, I have still not set my rear end on). It still has a warranty and everything--we were told it didn't have enough options so the owner traded up after less than a year owning it. It's a 2007 model, but way less expensive due to being used! What a deal! I know Lee misses his convertible. But this one has a lot of fun features, and is so much nicer to ride in...plus we will be able to tow a trailer with it, so we can go camping (assuming we get a hold of a camper of some sort).
We enjoyed a nice little outing in the truck last night as we waited for Tuba Boy to finish his last driver's ed practice. On Friday he has ONE more class to do and he will be able to get his license. Um. Now HE needs a vehicle. Eek. Insurance, too. OMG.
Lee's still feeling a bit puny, but recovering from the heat issue. He is drinking a lot of liquids. Beccano survived his first day of summer band like a trooper. He was a whole different kid last night. But his back hurt from having to stand up straight. HA good posture is on its way. So, things are better all round.
I just can't believe I now have: three pairs of cowboy boots, two real cowboy hats (one straw, one felt), more than one western shirt, and a PICK UP. What has Lee done to me???? (Other than make me very, very happy, I mean.)

Weekends and Looking Forward
I just got back from finally doing some holiday shopping, in which EM and I managed to have a good time buying things like blood pressure cuffs. OOOH--the Younger Son said he wanted to go along with me on my exciting adventures--I hate to tell him what mundane stuff passes for "fun" when you're just enjoying who you're with. And I do appreciate someone who just listens to me when I want to vent about "how I messed up my previous life" stuff.
It's still a lot of highs and lows this weekend--like I posted in my comment from Friday, I think I am having hormonal issues or something--it has that "feeling" like something is making me feel in ways I don't even want to feel. It doesn't help that I had to work today, wah. And that I didn't get as much done as I wanted (no one's fault but mine--any coworkers who happened to also be there were very polite), and well, I actually have a LOT to do on my project!
Probably working so much doesn't help the hormones. I had a lot of knitting work yesterday. Three work folks came in, too, and I got one going on knitting after having a frustrating time earlier in the week trying to learn on the wrong needles and yarn, while last week's new hat knitter had done a GREAT job finishing not only a hat but a scarf (and had made two others). And I got another client going on a hat. I find hat teaching very satisfying. Once you can make one, you are OFF and running, and it's fun to see all the progress and the independence the hat knitters develop.
Our choir program is still not in good shape, and that is sorta depressing--I am having a hard time not having anyone reliable singing my part, but I finally got the CD of the songs, so I can listen. Whew. By the time the rehearsal was over yesterday, I was lucky to have energy to eat dinner and watch TV with EM. (RM conveniently went to a party, which he enjoyed--I am so glad he is socializing and having some fun--he's been really good about everything, and I am impressed.) Nice to just hang out, watch TV, do tarot, laugh at the kids.
I am not sure why I wrote a long sort of reversed chronology of a not-too-exciting, normal weekend, but I think it's because it represents what I want more of (not the extra work or bad choir practices, but the other parts). I look forward to a time where I can just hang out with my loved ones and laugh and enjoy mundane things. With no drama. Whoa, that will be nice.
One more big event: the Older Boy did his first on the road driving this morning, from 6-8am. Poor thing was at a debate tournament all Friday and Saturday, is getting a cold, and then had to get up way too early to go drive. But he did it! I am proud.

I like reading about your weekend activities. It's true that even the mundane can be fun if your enjoy the company.I have a sphygmomanometer too (BP cuff). It is old though and I'd really like to have a fancy new electronic one where I don't have to use a stethescope at the same time. It gets hard to manipulate everything.Have a great week!
